Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday night. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

This update on his health follows the boxing community had expressed condolences for the fighter in the following the heartbreaking incident.
