World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight season. The 27-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship. A Season of Consistency Throughout the year, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final. The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year. In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago. Record-Breaking Numbers Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and collected a historic £11m in earnings. She garnered almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists. Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a new level". Additional WTA Award Winners Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking 13-month break after the birth of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season. Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18. Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after capturing their second Grand Slam title together. Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five finals. Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
