Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
